Piano

Although my professional career is dedicated to advancing scientific knowledge and developing new medicines through clinical research, the piano remains an essential part of who I am. Science and music may seem like very different worlds, but to me they share the same purpose: improving people's lives. While science seeks to heal through innovation, music has the power to comfort, inspire, and bring people together.

Music has been an essential part of my life since I was nine years old. My journey began thanks to the family of one of the students to whom my mother was giving private English lessons. They were musicians and I started to take lessons with them until I joined formal classes.

Over the years, I balanced my musical education with my academic studies, eventually earning a Professional Diploma in Piano from the Conservatory of Valladolid (Spain). My classical training provided me with a strong technical foundation, and I particularly enjoy playing Beethoven and Chopin, as well as Spanish composers such as Enrique Granados, Joaquín Turina, and Manuel de Falla.

After graduating, I began performing in cafes, restaurants, hospitals and other public venues, where I developed a repertoire of beautifully arranged piano versions of pop songs, film soundtracks, and new age music. Among my favourite pieces to perform are the soundtrack from Amélie by Yann Tiersen and the minimalist compositions of Wim Mertens.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, I began recording the pieces I used to perform in cafés and restaurants, as well as the music I played with my friend and singer Catrina Rateb. In Cambridge, I have performed in several concerts alongside other pianists. Many of these recordings and live performances are available on my YouTube channel.

One fun fact about me is that, wherever I have lived, I have almost always had a piano at home. Every time I moved to a new city, I would sell my piano and buy another one—always a slightly better instrument than the last. My dream is to one day own a baby or living room grand piano. If I could choose, it would undoubtedly be a Steinway & Sons!
